Sometimes we get a little too focused on results.

Sometimes we get a little too focused on results. The praise and the accolades go to the winner, and although I am not a fan of handing out participation awards, there comes a time where effort, how you played the game, win or lose, is rewarded.
I know there was a stack of athletes that competed well on the weekend, with pride and purpose, with humility and effort …. Yet walked away disappointed!!
Hold your head high as that effort, that sportsmanship doesn’t go unnoticed!!
You don’t want to go to war with someone by your side who can only handle things when it’s going their way, they never last the distance!! you want someone by your side that never gives up, that has GRIT and has the integrity to carry themselves with pride, they always last the distance!
For example @joel_piper your behaviour on the weekend didn’t go unnoticed and deserves as much praise as the winner, you got knocked down, yet you never gave up and in the end you rose to the top! No excuses, no poor me, just pure GRIT!
That’s how a true champion acts in my books!
So next time you’re at an event, praise skill and ability, praise the winner but never forget to praise effort, praise resilience, praise GRIT
Statistics prove athletes with those qualities will last the distance, they will be the ones eventually standing on top of the mountain!!
